Orthobiologics and cell therapy in the treatment of musculoskeletal system problems
Our main line of research involves orthobiologics and cell therapy in the treatment of problems of the musculoskeletal system. Additionally, there is a focus on treatment of knee joint injuries. In this line, there is an emphasis on treatment of injuries to the articular cartilage, ligament injuries, joint instabilities and degenerative processes of the knee. In this line of research, we highlight the study of the osteochondral unit, the subchondral bone and its interaction with joint cartilage injury. We also highlight studies related to cell therapy with emphasis on chondrocytes and mesenchymal stem cells. Thus, the objective is the study of methods to delay the evolution of joint injuries, control pain, accelerate the repair process and/or promote joint regeneration.
