Lines of research:
– Reconstructive Microsurgery applied to Orthopedics (reconstructions in infectious, tumor and post-traumatic pathologies)
– Advances in teaching, training and research in Microsurgery (LIM 41) in association with modern technology (simulations and microsurgery in 2D and 3D with robotic assistance)
Summary:
Our clinical focus is centralized in Reconstructive Microsurgery applied to Orthopedics (reimplantation of limbs and reconstructions in infectious, tumor and post-traumatic pathologies). The Microsurgery Laboratory has a long history (LIM 41) and its work ranges from the basic aspects of teaching and training in the microsurgical technique to research on experimental autologous and allogenous tissue transplantation with multiple immunomodulation methods. It interfaces with the disciplines of Hand Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Organ Transplantation, Neurosurgery and Urology, among others.
On the frontier of scientific innovation, Microsurgery has been associated with the development of modern technology (training with simulations and microsurgery in 2D and 3D with robotic assistance).
An important area of activity is Microsurgery applied to living donor liver transplantation in children and adults and to organ transplantation.
